At Positive Redirection, we understand how important it is to support our often unrecognized heroes. In the United States, approximately 53 million family caregivers provide care for children with healthcare needs or adults (Bose et al., 2021; International Alliance of Carer Organizations, 2021; National Alliance for Caregiving and American Association of Retired Persons, 2020).
Providing care for others requires self-care as a caregiver. The role of a caregiver can be emotionally, physically, and financially taxing. Often, caregivers neglect their own needs to prioritize the needs of those they care for. It is crucial for caregivers to focus on themselves to maintain their well-being.
Do you know a caregiver and want to help?
Perhaps you have a family member caring for her children and her parents. There are many ways to support caregivers, including:
Reaching out to the caregiver, offering practical help, or simply letting them know you are there and care about them.
Raising awareness by advocating for better policies, resources, and support for caregivers in your community.
Volunteering or donating to organizations that provide respite care, training programs, and financial assistance to caregivers.
Are you a caregiver in need of support or resources?
If so, please feel free to contact Positive Redirection to connect with us. We appreciate your strength, commitment, and dedication to others!
